Encore: Easter Bunny Explosion Box

HELLO HUNNY BUNNY! Thank you all for your kind comments, compliments and inquiries about my Chocolate Bunny Explosion Box. So far, this is one of my favorite projects! It was quite a bit of work, but well worth it. I was very pleased with the finished piece.

As much as I would like to take credit for this lovely creation, I cannot. I was inspired by the talented Suzanne Dean from Scrapbitz. She created this gorgeous box last December...

Absolutely gorgeous, huh? Suzanne has the template posted at:
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/explosion_box/ Thanks for sharing, Suzanne!

I followed the basic directions for Suzanne's box, but I wanted to enclose a treat in my explosion box, so I chose a yummy chocolate bunny by Lindt chocolates - yum!

Since the chocolate bunny is a bit taller than what the paper template allows, I had to make alterations, and added an 1-1/2 of paper to a 12 x 12 piece of cardstock, making it a 13-1/2 x 13-1/2. I also used Nestabilities Label 4 for the windows. I found it was best to first decorate the outside and inside of the box, before attaching the chocolate treat & decorating the inside center of the box.

I created a low "platform" for the chocolate bunny, to give it a little lift, and also to allow a little space to me to attach the grass. To do so, I cut a piece of cardstock 4-1/2" x 4-1/2", then scored it at 1/4" and 1/2" all the way around. Fold along all the creases, then snip the crease fold on the corners to the 1/2" mark (4-cuts in all, ) and fold over the flaps to create the "platform." I used ScorTape to attach the "platform" to the center base of the explosion box.
The chocolate bunny was attached to the center of the "platform" with a craft glue dot. Then came the fun part - decorating around the bunny.

The grass, flowers and butterfly are all handmade. I have had several requests on how I made the paper flowers, so I will work on instructions to be posted later.

I hope this will help to get you started. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.

  2. You're so so talented. Just wanted instructions for those paper flowers since my first try at it flopped miserably. I guess I need another demo w/ the exact tool you used. I used the stylus tool & it didn't work. You always make it seem so easy.

Spring Flutterings

I had to squeeze some "quiet time" in today, because I did not have anytime last week to do anything.  My 8 month old "Baby Diva" has kept me busy, as she is staying with me while her Mommy is out of town till Wednesday.  Fortunately, she is such a good baby.  She must have known I was feining for some crafting time, because she was so cooperative! I was kind of all over the place with this card.  It has a little bit of everything: Stamping, stitching, handmade flowers ( you know me & my handmade flowers!), border punches, and a pretty butterfly.   I wanted to try making a new flower.  The larger flower was created using an apple, star & daisy punches.  Each of the flower centers have a touch of bling by Viva Decor glitter pen in "Hologram."  The butterfly was cut from a Nesties die.  I blinged up each layer with stickles & hit with 2 coats of Crystal Effects.  I used Kaiser Craft pearls in "Bliss" for the body & coiled some

Season's Change

Welcome back, Friends!  Come join me this week for Stamptacular Sunday Challenge #78 - "Season's Change!" This week's challenge is to create a card or project using ONLY colors of Fall!   Oooh, how pretty, huh?! Our SPONSOR this week is  Magnolialicious Our lucky winner's PRIZE:  Here is my DT creation for this week's AWESOME challenge theme.... An inside view of the card, and custom envelope/box. All of the flowers on this card are handmade. I know, you're probably thinking, "oh what a lot of work!"  Actually, it really is not. I use paper punches to create the flowers and leaves. So, whenever I have very small scraps of paper I punch them with my floral punches & store them in a box for future use. It's very convenient for me to have the pieces already punched too. Then, whenever I get bored or often while I watch TV, I "form" the flowers & store them away so that they're ready when I need them. This is my box o
